7 Tips to Keep Health Issues At Bay This Monsoon

The joy of first rain is inexpressible, it provides great relief from the sweltering summer heat and rejuvenates our soul. However, monsoon also brings along a host of health issues such as cold, cough, jaundice, typhoid etc. Discussed below are 7 tips that will help you keep health issues at bay this monsoon:

1. Avoid street food

Try to consume fresh home cooked food as during rainy season your digestive system is prone to infections. Street food is a big ‘No’ as they can contain harmful bacteria that causes indigestion. Avoid consuming raw/pre-cut fruits and vegetables to prevent food poisoning.

2. Drink filtered and boiled water

Water-borne diseases like cholera, typhoid, and jaundice are common during monsoons. Therefore make sure to boil your drinking water for removing all impurities and killing harmful microbes. Increase your fluid intake to get rid of toxins from the body. Also, never compensate your fluid intake with carbonated and caffeinated drinks as it can cause more harm than good.

3. Consume herbal teas

Drink some herbal teas such as Tulsi tea, ginger tea, or lemon tea. Such teas contain excellent antibacterial properties that prevent usual monsoon health issues like cough, cold, and sore throat.

4. Wash your feet with an antiseptic soap

Make sure to wash your feet with an antiseptic soap soon after you reach home or office. It can avoid fungal infections on the feet and nails.

5. Ensure there is no stagnant water

Mosquito-borne diseases such as Chikungunya, Malaria, and Dengue are at par during the monsoon season due to the presence of stagnant water. Ensure there is no such water in flower pots, water coolers, and other areas that can result in the breeding of mosquitoes.

6. Take a Vitamin C Tablet every day

Have a Vitamin C tablet every day as it can ward off infections and boost your immune system.

7. Have a cup of yoghurt daily

Yoghurt is a great addition to your monsoon diet. It has excellent infection-fighting properties and can strengthen your immune system.

Prevention is always better than cure, therefore we hope you follow these tips to stay healthy and keep diseases at bay this monsoon. If you require any support for medical claim assistance, McXtra is happy to help you 24/7. Upload your medical insurance policies in our app today!
