The rainy season is the best time of the year to explore destinations with gushing waterfalls and lush greenery. Here are certain facts to consider before you head out for your monsoon vacation:

1. Check the weather report and news
Always make sure to check out the regional weather report and news before you travel. Hilly areas are prone to landslides and floods hit low lying areas, therefore do enough research before you start your journey.

2.Drive safe
If it’s a hill station, chances for slippery roads and landslides are more. Make sure to drive slow and take occasional breaks in between.

3. Be prepared for delays
Books are a good source of entertainment when you are stuck in traffic or when your flight is delayed.  Board games are also a great idea to kill your boredom.

4. Pack rain-appropriate clothes, footwear, and umbrella
Pack an umbrella, a raincoat or a hooded waterproof jacket and few quick-drying clothes. Take some rain-appropriate footwear so you can step out in the rain or hill trek confidently.

5. Carry bottled drinking water
Waterborne diseases like typhoid and cholera are common during the season. Therefore it is recommended to carry a few bottles of boiled water wherever you go.

6. Protect your gadgets

7. Keep your phone fully-charged and carry a power bank
Unpredicted weather can make you stuck anywhere for hours. Therefore keep your phone fully charged or carry a power bank. Prevention is always better than cure!
